      Burke Co., NC-170 Hezekiah Stratton to Reubin Highsaw, 100 acres. 20 May 1810 Deed between Hezekiah Stratton and Reubin Highsaw both of Wilkes County and State of N. Carolina. Stratton sells to Reubin Highsaw for 150 dollars paid. ..."One parcel lying on both sides of the Yadkin River about the mouth of the South Fork on said River. Including a peach orchard near the foot of the back mountain. Beginning on a south locust standing on the bank of the river in a conditional line between the said Reubin and Joel Highsaw and thus south 45 degrees east, up the river crossing the same twelve chains unto the said lines a red oak on the top of a ridge at the side of an old field above Joel Highsaw's house...(it being part of a tract of 100 acres conveyed to Hezekiah Stratton by Robert Kirkpatrick....proved 1811. signed Wm.       I know that his name appears on a document dated Feb. 9, 1812 in Hawkins Co. in which he was witness to an indenture*** involving John Claxton of Grainger Co., TN and Hezekiah Stratton of Hawkins Co. The tract was 75 acres on War Creek. In addition to Bennett, William Stuart and James Byrd were also witnesses. Patrick Donihae [sic], Hezekiah Stratton and Joseph Claud [sic] [Cloud] were mentioned as owning adjacent property.
